I continued talking to the phone and repeatedly doing my opening and closing spiel..
My immediate superior, Boss Julia, was in her way doing her best to help me so I can attend the event. I really appreciate the help she did. It’s past 9AM already and I really lost my hope. Since, the account’s service level for the day did not passed, I was not excused. I just told myself that it’s okay. There will be other events that I can join that’ll be spearheaded by Cebu Bloggers Society.
Supposedly, the event will start at 8:00AM, with its registration at 7:30AM. But, I went there almost 1:00PM because my work ends at noon. I even had a hard time deciding if will catch up with the event since I am already very late. But, I took the courage to still attend!
Better late than never! I went to CAP Auditorium, CAP Complex, Jones, Cebu City, venue of the First Cebu Blog Camp 2010. I saw familiar faces from online and from the previous activities of the group that I had attended. I was too shy to enter the event area and luckily I saw Jorich that helped me with the registration and to get a bit of my freebies from the sponsors. I saw Edcel, a friend and workmate from a webhosting company that we’re working before. I got my name already signed on the sheet and my freebies. It’s time for me to listen to the speakers then.
On the Cebu Blog Camp, these are the speakers that I was able to listened to and the topics they we’re discussing, to wit;
Blogging Ethics – Basic in blogging ethics by Juned Sunido, Philippine Blog Awards, Inc.
Stop, Look and Read : How to make netizens notice your blog – Marketing your blog, How to increase your blog’s presence online, driving traffic to your blog by Jayvee Fernandez, Pro-blogger.
Blogging and Citizen’s Journalism – Empowering the citizen’s to use blogging as a tool for journalism by Tonyo Cruz, Asian Correspondents
WP Install : An SEO Perspective – Boosting your WordPress blog to its maximum potential , Optimizing your wordpress for SEO by Hans Koch, Click Eleven
Blogging : Personal Branding – How to make your blog stand out, Converting your blog into your own brand by Wilson Ng, NgKhai Technologies.
I missed Jannette Toral’s talk on Practical Tips in becoming an Influential Blogger. She is the founder of Digital Filipino and author of Blogging from Home. I first saw here last October 2008 on the first Digital Filipino Club and Bloggers Conference in Cebu that was held at PAGCOR in Waterfront Hotel.
It was a toss-coin attending the event. First, it’s because I filed a leave on the said date at work and was not approved. Second, I emailed my bosses about it but I never got any replies. It was then without hope to attend the first Cebu Blog Camp 2010. And third, I was very late.
But I was there!
